Using Trash Screens In Water Outflows
Filter out trash and debris from your stormwater outflow pipes
Most storm products are designed to prevent trashand pollutants from storm outflows. Not all products will be feasible for those applications
The Trash Screen was designed to be used below the storm drain as an example. By placing the Trash Screen over the outflow, trash is trapped inside of the basin and only clean water can continue on through the storm system.
Key Features:
- Polyethylene frame and stainless steel screen unit quickly install over stormwater outflow – allowing stormwater to pass through freely while keeping trash, litter, leaves and other debris from escaping.
- Heavy-duty, polyethylene housing will not rust or corrode and is much more economical than similar all stainless steel units.
- Quickly attaches to catch basin walls with included concrete screws – fits pipes up to 18”OD.
- Made in the U.S.A with 86% recycled content.
Compliance:
Helps comply with NPDES, 40 CFR 122.26 (1999) and TMDL requirements.

Common Questions
What size outflow pipes is the Debris Screen designed to work with?
The Trash Screen can be used with drainage pipes up to 18″ outside diameter.
Should I be worried about rust or corrosion?
The Trash Screen is constructed of polyethylene and stainless steel. It will not rust or corrode.
More about the overflow ports?
The Trash Screens with the overflow port option have no screen mesh over the top two openings. If the water in the catch basin reaches higher levels, the overflow will allow water to pass through unimpeded. Trash and debris may get through the ports but street flooding and ponding will be prevented.
Is hardware included?
Yes, everything that you need to install the Trash Screen will be included in the package that you receive.
What other product should I consider for this application?
The Ultra-Oil & Debris Blocker is similar to the Debris Screen with the added benefit of also retaining oil in the catch basin. Check out the Path to the Perfect Product to see what other products might be a good option.
